used libraries of manuscripts, rare books, and unique materials in the
United States, Bancroft supports major research and instructional

Darwin and the Evolution of a Theory

To commemorate the 200th anniversary of Charles Darwin’s
birth and the 150th anniversary of the publication of The Origin of
Species, The Bancroft Library is mounting an exhibition of rare books,
manuscripts, images and scientific specimens drawn from the collections of
nine of UC Berkeley’s libraries and museums.
